South American Community of Nations
The South American Community of Nations was established in Cusco, Peru, on December 8th, 2005, during the III Meeting of the Presidents of South America.
The purpose of the Community is the establishment of an integrated South American space in the political, social, economic, environmental and infrastructure dimensions. The principles and the basic political orientation of the Community are established in the Cusco Declaration and in the Declaration of Ayacucho
The I Meeting of Heads of State of the South American Community of Nations was held in Brasília, on September 30th, 2005. The Meeting approved a set of decisions, among them the Presidential Declaration and Priority Agenda and the Program of Action, which provided the Community its basic structural organization and esteblished the priority areas for the regional integration process.
The next Summit of the Community will be held in Bolivia, in 2006.
